The All-Stars faced off against Demolition City's Dynamite Dolls in a repeat match up from Detroit. The Dynamite Dolls lost their game on Friday against The Music City All Stars which put them against KCRW for the battle for third place.
Case Closed got the game started right by drawing first blood with three quick points. Demolition City came right back the next jam though and tied it up. They then went on to score nine more points the next jam and pulled ahead 12 to 3. By Halftime, The All-Stars were trailing 76 to 57.
It wasn't until the 16th jam of the second period that The All-Stars successfully caught up and tied it up again, 113 to 113 when Case Closed had another successful jam. The following jam, JessiKaboom put the team ahead for the first time, 118 to 113. Following the lead, Track Rat came out and scored 16 points, increasing the lead to 134 to 125. Not to be outdone, the Dynamite Dolls rallied and tied it up in the 20th jam. Jam 21 saw Track Rat squaring off against Bambi ThumpHer. Day one of the WFTDA Championships saw The All-Stars take on The Sacred City Sacrificers hailing from Sacramento, California. The outside temperature in Minnesota is currently in the mid 40's and it's not much warmer inside The Roy Wilkins Auditorium for our girls in black and red.
Mary Lou Wretched lined up against Ariel-LA-Twister to start the game. Sacred City drew first blood in the opening jam with a score of 23 to 4. It wasn't until jam seven that they even caught a glimmer of hope as Track Rat had a 19 point run bringing the score to 41 to 36, in favor of The Sacrificers. KC got within a couple of points for a few jams but then Sacred City's defense shut it down and by Halftime the score was 109 to 67.
The All-Stars were looking good going into the second half but they were still being held back by the opposing defense. It seemed as if nothing could break through those walls. Despite the loss of a couple of skaters due to foul outs, KCRW just had difficulties getting any kind of momentum going. In the end, The Sacrificers won 242 to 160. They will go on to play The Music City All Stars for the top position while KCRW moves on to have a Detroit rematch with The Dynamite Dolls.
