![]() Welcome back derby fans! The weather may be cold outside, but the action is hot inside Winnwood Skate Center. Game three of the winter home season saw the Knockouts take on the Victory Vixens in the first game. The score was pretty even through most of the first half until acting team captain Mary Lou Wretched and the rest of the Knockout offense picked up the pace and started to pull away. By the end of the first half the score was Knockouts 47, Vixens 43. The Vixens defense fought hard in the second half, but when the clock ran out, it was a Knockouts victory with the final score, 125 to 91. The second game saw the classic rivalry of the Black Eye Susans vs. the Dreadnought Dorothys. Both teams were in it to win it since this was the last game before the Rink of Fire. The first jam saw neither team score. The Dorothys drew first blood and dominated through the early part of the first half, but soon, the Susans tied it up and eventually pulled away. By half time, the score was Susans 89, Dorothys 57. Road Hash must have had a good locker room speech, because the Dorothys came back in the second half and closed the gap. The final score was Susans 159, Dorothys 144. Looking ahead into April, we have the Knockouts going into the Rink of Fire undefeated. They will be playing 2013's defending champions, the Black Eye Susans, for the number one position. The Victory Vixens will be playing the Dreadnought Dorthys for number three. The Susans only have one loss, and that was to the girls in teal. It's definitely going to be an interesting game to see how bad the Susans want to hang on to their trophy and avenge their one loss. The Victory Vixens' one victory has been over the Dorothys last month when they spanked them with a final score of 248 to 74. Will the Vixens repeat this trend and shut out the Dorothys? I'm not going to sit here and play Swami and start making scoring predictions and as much as I hate to say I told you so — but last month I said that now that the Dorothys have their house in order, they'll start improving. They haven't won a game yet, but a loss by 15 points is their best game so far. If Road Hash and Bruz-Her keep working them and feeding them their Wheaties through the All Star break, the Vixens will have their hands full. Be there at Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, April 19 to see how it all plays out. Next month, March 16, join us again at Winnwood Skate Center as your All Stars take on Team United out of Des Moines, Iowa. The under card will have KCRW's Plan B vs. Team United's Blue Ribbon Bullies. This will be the season opener for KCRW's travel teams, so get your tickets now and get your tailgating supplies in order because you wont want to miss it.
