Wichita, Ks.- It was an early morning in Kansas City as gear was packed and carpools headed south. It was a post game morning for parents and coaches, normally spent sleeping in or soaking the bumps and bruises out in a warm tub. But this particular morning would be spent on the road to Wichita, for the love of the sport and the hope of the next generation. The Junior Warriors were taking on The ICT Roller Jrs for some pre-season action.
The National Anthem was sung, the intros were made and the starting whistle was blown. ICT drew first blood with four unanswered points but then Apocalypstick came out in the second Jam and replied with nine points, bringing the score 9 to 8, KC's favor. ICT started to pull ahead but Speed Reecer came out in the fifth and tied it up 22 all. In the seventh, Illumihottie went on a 14 point scoring run and put KC back on top, 36 to 31. Unfortunately, ICT had a late period rally that KC had trouble containing and by Halftime ICT was leading 65 to 46.
Speed Reecer came out strong at the start of the second period with a 19 point scoring run and closed the gap, 78 to 65 still in favor of ICT. In the fifth, Schwack-Her was able to put KC on top, 83 to 82. ICT later went on a scoring run as KC had a string of penalty problems. The final score saw ICT on top 148 to 117.
After the game, Illumihottie was voted MVP Blocker and Apocalypstick was MVP Jammer.
