Memorial Hall- Plan B ends their season by hostessing a triple header against The Tulsa County Valkyries and The Capital City Crushers. They go into the series with a record of three wins and two losses.
The Capital City Crushers and The Tulsa County Valkyries got things rolling with the first game. There were many lead changes through the first period, and by Halftime The Crushers were leading by one point. It was The Valkyries, however, that would ultimately attain victory, 171 to 152.
Plan B stepped onto the track to play The Crushers for the second game. This did not go so well for the hostess team. Plan B vs. The Capital City Crushers is an annual event. Each season, Plan B goes to Topeka and comes home victorious. This season, it was The Crushers turn. They rolled over the home team 246 to 117. I caught up with Crushers team captain Scarlet O’Scare Ya and asked if there were any new strategies they had come up with for the game, she just shook her head and smiled and said that it was just their time. She also went on to say that she looks forward to a rematch at home. That promises to be an interesting game, tune in next season for the results.
Meanwhile, in the current season, Plan B still had one more game to go before the night was over. Team captain Sk8l Attraction took the line against Rose Rage. Rose got Lead Jammer but Sk8l matched her point for point. The score was 4 to 4 at the end of the first jam. This was going to be a fight. The next three Jams did not go as well for Plan B but then in the fifth, Sk8l came back out and went on an eight point scoring run that put the team back on top, 21 to 20.
The lead changed again in the seventh when Rose Rage went on a nine point scoring run to bring the score to 29 to 25. The Valkyries would hold the lead through Halftime, where the score was 75 to 62.
In the second Jam of the second period, fortune favored Plan B. Bear Knuckles lined up against Sweet Demise. Bear got Lead Jammer and a Power Jam when Demise was sent to the box for a back block. After an 18 point scoring run, Plan B was back on top, 93 to 90. The momentum just built from there and The Valkyries never recovered. Plan B would end the season the way they started it, victoriously. The final score was 223 to 160.
Make sure to mark your calendars for August 12th when The Junior Warriors take the track again. Last time, Team Red was the last team standing. I’ll bet that Team Black will have something to say about that this time around. Kansas City derby season is not over yet!
