The Junior Warriors home teams played their second Underground game of the season on July 27th. After the last game, Rolling Thunder is looking for a little pay back having lost by 31 points. Perhaps this will be their night. I talked to the coaches before the game and the team hasn't really tried to change their tactics or learn any big strategy so much as just tighten up their playing and focus on team cohesion.
Starry Fright seemed confident going into the game. They had a full roster with the exception of Illumihottie who is still awaiting doctors clearance to return to the track after her fall in Des Moines earlier in the month.
The first period started off well for Rolling Thunder. They were dominating the board with only a couple of lead changes and they never trailed more than three points. The middle of the period was when Starry Fright just dropped the hammer and took the lead with a vengeance after Mini Me had her first power jam. By Halftime Starry Fright was leading 114 to 84. Rolling Thunder tried for a rally in the second period but Starry Frights momentum just couldn't be slowed down. By the time it was all said and done, Starry Fright had scored another win at 202 to 165.
The game MVP's were voted on and then announced after the game. Rolling Thunder's Demon Seed was the MVP Blocker with VDub picking up Jammer. Miranda Slambert was voted MVP Jammer and Pebbles was the Blocker for Starry Fright.
Don't miss the next game happening on August 10th at Winnwood Skate Center. There are only two more games left, will Rolling Thunder rise again to their glory of last season or will Starry Fright have another victory? The best way to find out is to show up!
